How can we live longer? Do we live in a simulation? Does free will actually exist? The Curious Ape is an exploration of the most powerful ideas from guests on the Joe Rogan podcast. These guests include some of the world’s finest scientists, philosophers, investigative journalists, athletes and even whistle-blowers. These guests are often contrarians and their ideas challenge conventional wisdom. For too long we have been taught that the food pyramid is correct, the government does not read our messages and that antidepressants are the solution to depression. The ideas that lie within this book aim to disrupt big industry and big government. There are not only ideas about our society but the cosmos at large. Whether it be Neil deGrasse Tyson’s exploration of the cosmos to David Goggin’s exploration of the mind, this book navigates every domain you could imagine; nothing is off limits. Sex. Drugs. Power. The only disclaimer is that if you are not curious, don’t like to be challenged or accept things the way they are, this book is not for you.

As a an avid listener of Rogan’s podcasts, I loved how the book dealt with things discussed on it. The broad range of topics talked about allows for an enjoyable and interesting read, while also providing more of an insight into the ideas presented on the show. Would definitely recommend for JRE fans.

Great premise, mixed results
I wanted to like this book. I’m a huge fan of the podcast and wanted to give this as a Christmas gift to everyone in my life who is mystified that I can spend so long listening to a podcast. The premise is great. However, the author inserts a lot of himself into the book. His opinions, ideas, background. This was distracting and annoying enough that I couldn’t get more than halfway through the book. It read more like a kid’s book report on their favourite episodes and why than a curated collection of other people’s ideas.A for effort and idea, but C for execution.
